Flowers grow into the inner walls of our skin when the wounding scrapes of old memories are painted over with new perspectives.
It is within our power to choose new growth or lie dormant. To challenge what we currently know with new, uncomfortable ideas or trend toward comfort. We all have the ability to transform, it is intrinsic to being human. It is in our nature to break away from what no longer works for us and forge new paths.
This jump has been inches from my next few steps many times over. Do I plunge into the unknown? It was easier when I was younger, with nothing to lose, no status, no build up of any sort of credibility as a professional. Yet now, as I grow into my forties, it feels harder to take that step back into the “nothing to lose” mindset because now I have everything to lose and potentially nothing to gain. I know better now. I know not to hope to be a dancer or a famous musician, but an artist who sells journal and cards? Yes, I will try that. Will I make less money? Probably. Will I be happier? Definitely.
So are you a flower or a nascent seed?
