It’s been a minute since I last wrote to you. Hello, it is me, Andrea Bijou. I write and paint art for healing if you recall. We have reached the year 2020, can you believe it? So what is new…I am officially married! I had an exciting trip to Puerto Rico over the holidays (more on that later) and the news is still so bad I can’t look, so the best I can do is focus on health.
Our physical health is a reflection of our mental and emotional state. If we have the first two in order, we will take more time to care for our bodies through diet and exercise.
For me, I eat healthy, high protein, high fruits, and veggies meals most of the time for a few reasons.
1. It regulates my blood sugar, which regulates emotions. I am less likely to get grumpy and dizzy if I am eating enough protein throughout the day.
2. It regulates my anxiety. The more sugar and carbs I eat, the more anxiety I experience. The more my hormones are disrupted. The worse my cycles are. When I am taking care of my body and tough circumstances arise, I am more equipped to manage them.
3. I have to manage my digestive health daily because of the trauma I endured as a child. All of the anxiety I experienced as a child stressed my digestive system. So now, I have to eat a lot of fiber, low sugar, probiotics, and protein to help keep things moving.
4. I stay physically fit eating healthy and do not need to kill myself at the gym.
There is a balance to all this. I am not looking for perfection, just a supportive regimen that keeps me feeling positive throughout the day.
Here is an example of breakfast I will make for myself.
Green tea
Tall glass of water with electrolytes
Two scrambled eggs with coconut oil
Blackberries
Blueberries
Bob’s Red Mill Paleo Pancakes
